Mesopotamia and its Religious Beliefs

   Have you ever wondered what kind of artifacts Babylonian people had and what there statues were used for .  An artifact is an old object from past civilizations. Examples of an artifact could be a weapon like a mace or a clay tablet. Most Mesopotamian artifacts date back to the B.Cs.

         The religion of Babylonian civilization is polytheism according to ducksters.com. Polytheism is it is when people believe in many gods.  It affected society by possibly by influencing people to believe in many gods. Ziggurats show this ,according to ducksters.com because they pray to the gods in them and they worship gods in them. Mesopotamia studied was on clay tablets and walls also on stones one of the writings/codes was called the code of Hammurabi according to Ducksters.com  It originated in Babylonian and Assyria according to ancientbabylonians.com. The main beliefs were in many different gods and also they would build buildings called ziggurats to worship those many gods in according to Ducksters also they would leave dolls to do their praying all day for them.

    The Mace doesn't tell anything about religion also,  The mace was used for combat.

The mace was used by sneaking up behind people in war and to smash there head into their skull and kill them it was also used to torture. The mace handle was made of wood and the head of the mace the part you hit with is made of stone or rocks and they are very difficult to replace according to http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/mace.The information it tells was that they probably had many blacksmiths so they could fix there maces and other things.

        The weapons that they used did not often represent any religious things

Their weapons were used in combat or combat training they had many weapons like axes,spears,maces,spear brakers, and bows and arrows. Also they used chariots.

Chariots were used to ram into enemy lines to make openings for good soldiers. Also spear breakers were used to snap spears in half in combat. Most weapons were made of wood stone and other minerals like iron. The information that it tells was that they weren't very sophisticated

when it came to weapons and nowadays we still use bows and arrows.

Yes the statues tell lots of things about religion because some statues represented gods. Statues all had different meanings but some statues of gods were royal and some people prayed to the statues everyday according to Ducksters.com  It was used to make offerings to the gods and they were used to pray. It was made from stone,limestone,brick, and other stone like materials. They got those materials from the ground and they had special slaves to chisel them and other special people like that.  It tells that the civilization was very religious. Now you know what it was like to live in Ancient Mesopotamia with their Religion, temples, their weapons, and their wars with different civilizations.
